PUNE: A year after launching the service for international parcels, the department of posts has now extended the Flat Rate Box (FRB) parcel service for the domestic market. The service has been recently introduced in the city, wherein a customer can send parcels up to 5 kg via FRB across the country. It is an air express service providing time-bound delivery of parcel at much-less spending compared to private couriers, say post officials.
"The FRBs are made available at all major post offices in the city. Now, the customers would not have to bother for packaging material to pack their parcels, as the high quality and standardised corrugated boxes are available, which will ensure safe and secure transport of consignment," said K C Mishra, postmaster general, Pune region. He added that the parcels can also be tracked and traced as every box is given a unique code. Besides, boxes have high quality sealing tape at the inner lid. The parcels, therefore, do not require to be wrapped in cloths and other papers.
